Clearstone installed resin bound at Anthea Harrison Garden Design’s award-winning project to preserve ancient trees. The driveway had several trees subject to preservation orders, with root protection zones within the driveway. To comply with regulations from local planning authorities, Anthea needed porous paving and an installation process that would not harm the roots of the Cedar trees.
Anthea Harrison was tasked with transforming a development site in Wheathampstead into a garden with swimming pool fit for a couple who are passionate gardeners. With a house to be demolished, a new home built, excavation for basement and swimming pool, it was a massive re-modelling job. In addition to a swimming pool, entertaining and barbecue area, Anthea’s brief was to include a new driveway, entrance and sumptuous planting.
The solution for the driveway and preservation of the trees was 492m2 of Clearstone’s resin bound paving in Flaxen Pea. Approved by local planning authorities, resin bound is flexible enough to be laid around tree roots and allows air and water to circulate. Anthea received a BALI Design Excellence Award for the garden.
