Decorex announces new installation: Design Encounter

New for the 2019 edition of Decorex International, Design Encounter will see the show bring together a diverse group of interior designers to explore how interiors and technology can combine to offer a personalised experience.

Design Encounter, by architect John Allsopp, is an installation of six room-sets, each created by a leading design studio and offering unique concepts based on personality profiling.

Allsopp explains:

“In the interior design market personalisation represents the ultimate luxury and this is something particularly important to visitors of a show like Decorex.

“I believe our perception of what technology means is moving away from screens and keyboards and toward direct interaction with the three-dimensional space via other means. This opens up many possibilities, including more scope for personalisation. It is exciting that Decorex is offering a platform to explore these possibilities and I am looking forward to realising the project in October.”

Among the selected designers is Natalia Miyar, one of House & Garden’s Top 100 Interior Designers, who specialises in luxury residential projects worldwide. Joining her is Sam Todhunter, another of House & Garden’s prestigious Top 100, whose residential projects are recognised the world over for their fusion of luxurious eclecticism and glamorous twists on traditional design.

Sella Concept, a specialist in retail, hospitality and office interiors that has worked on spaces for clients including Google and Netflix also takes part, as does the multidisciplinary Run for the Hills – the creative design house whose interiors include musician Ellie Goulding’s home, Kricket White City and the new Tivoli cinema, bar and café in Bath.

Zachary Pulman Design Studio a specialist in leisure hospitality, including the emerging trend of socialising and boasts clients such as Nike, Puma and Swingers, will also design a space. Also in the line-up is exciting new practice These White Walls, which has recently completed its first project, an elegant design for acclaimed chef Ollie Dabbous’ Mayfair restaurant, Hide.

Sam Fisher, Event Director, comments:

“We’re thrilled to host a brand-new feature at this year’s event. The opportunity to present this concept within a unique environment and to invite visitors to a personalised experience featuring so much design talent is really exciting.”
