Designer Contracts – one of the UK’s largest flooring contractors – has developed an extensive training programme for all employees at its offices and warehousing in the 12 regions across the UK.
The programme kicks-off for new starters welcomed into the company with a full induction plan. Then a comprehensive schedule of courses ensures employees’ ongoing career development.
Said Designer Contracts md, Peter Kelsey:
“We are lucky to have an incredibly loyal and skilled workforce and it’s important that we continue to invest in our training programme so that everyone has the opportunity to develop within the company.”
Extensive instruction is delivered on products the company sells together with features and benefits ensuring effective advice and guidance is given. Tailored to the individual job role, training covers aspects appropriate to each employee to help them carry out their job effectively.
A module covering effective presentation of the company’s curtains and blinds offer includes education on products, measuring, as well as features and benefits.
Supported by a new customer care leaflet, the customer service session comprises, among other things, fault finding common problems, responding effectively and promptly.
Supplier product knowledge is an essential feature of the programme. Designer Contracts has excellent relationships with most major flooring manufacturers where these suppliers invest their own time and resources to deliver training to staff both on and off site. Forbo and Gerflor are two of the companies offering to provide this service to enhance employees’ skill and knowledge base.
Most of the company’s training is carried out by a team of internal instructors as well as experienced members of staff who are able to coach employees. Also included in the programme are specific training need requests from employees which can be carried out either individually or in a group.
“Our employees are testament to our ever expanding business. We have a really great mix of people who are passionate about what they do – and this really does show in the quality of customer service that clients receive.”
