Pride in a job well done has earned a Kent based construction worker a top industry award and a promotion.
Justin Brown, who oversees construction of new homes at Highwood Green in Marden, is one of 18 Redrow employees to receive Pride in the Job ‘Quality’ Awards from the NHBC (National House Building Council). Around 15,000 site managers undergo the judging process with just 450 winners selected.
While it’s a record number of wins for Redrow, it’s a double celebration for Justin.
“I started off as a ground worker when I left school in 1989, becoming a trainee assistant and worked my way up the career ladder.
“I joined Redrow last year as project manager at Highwood Green and have recently been promoted to area build manager. There’s a good team here in Marden and I’m continuing to oversee the site. Everyone is really pleased about the award.”
Judging for the Pride in the Job Awards begins a year before the announcement of the first round of winners. It includes spot checks of the day-to-day running of their site, plus assessment across 38 areas of site management, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process, leadership and organisational skills.
Only site managers who demonstrate exceptional standards in every aspect of their work on site and in the homes they build are considered for a Pride in the Job Award.
Justin, 43, who lives in Lewes, East Sussex, added:
“It takes hard work and commitment to win the ‘Quality’ Award and I’m determined to keep standards at Highwood Green high.
“The award gives customers peace of mind that we’re taking care at every stages as we build their homes.”
Justin and the other ‘Quality’ Award winners will now have to wait until the autumn to discover if they’ve made it into the top 130 site managers to secure the coveted ‘Seal of Excellence’.
