This scheme consists of 4 new build units and the conversion of 3 existing units. This forms part of an eco street situated in the heart of Gainsborough and is within walking distance of the Marshalls Yard retail development, social and health amenities and the towns transport links.

Working in partnership with West Lindsey District Council, L&H Homes have provided a mix of 2 and 3 bed sustainable, energy efficient homes in an area of much need regeneration.

The new build units have reached Code for Sustainable Homes level 5, which is a first for the West Lindsey and L&H Homes. When used effectively the sustainable elements of the units, will provide residents with reduced energy demand resulting in reduced running costs and utility bills.

The new buildings have been constructed from Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), clad with a mixture of brick and render to create a well insulated air tight building fabric. A traditional gas boiler has been installed for ease of use for the tenants, along with a Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery (MVHR) unit. The MVHR unit will improve the air quality and reduce energy consumption by recovering otherwise wasted or lost heat from the stale extracted air. The new build properties also have the benefit of on-site electricity production through solar photo-voltaic (PV) panels situated on the roof, providing free energy during sunlight hours. Solar thermal panels on the roof of the converted house will provide a proportion of the hot water needed for heating and living in that house.

Funding was received from the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) to the sum of £114,250, from two successful applications, as part of their Building Performance Evaluation programme. This money has been used to place equipment into the new build units to enable the monitoring of the systems and technologies that have been installed. These will look at the energy productions and consumptions, running costs, the performance of the external fabric of the properties and how tenants adapt to living in these homes, over the next two years.
