Major town centre brownfield site set for regeneration
Housebuilder Cruden has concluded a contract with the landowner to acquire the former Postings Shopping Centre site in Kirkcaldy, marking a significant milestone in plans to deliver much-needed affordable housing in the heart of the town.
Working in partnership with Kingdom Group, Cruden is bringing forward proposals to regenerate the prominent brownfield site, which has remained vacant since the shopping centre was demolished in 2023.
The proposed development will deliver 135 affordable homes, including dedicated accommodation for people aged 55 and over. The plans feature a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments alongside traditionally inspired colony-style homes, creating a vibrant and diverse new residential community in a highly accessible town centre location.
The development represents a major investment in Kirkcaldy, transforming a long-standing vacant site into a thriving new neighbourhood. As well as strengthening connections with the High Street, the proposals will support wider regeneration efforts by bringing more people into the town centre area and helping to increase footfall for local businesses.

Cruden has already undertaken a comprehensive programme of community engagement as part of the pre-application process, following the submission of a Proposal of Application Notice to Fife Council. Feedback from local residents and stakeholders is helping to shape the proposals ahead of the submission of a formal planning application.
Cruden and Kingdom intend to progress the development with the submission of a formal planning application later this year.
