A Better Future Discussed at the Festival of Sustainability

Parkside and Strata Tiles held the Festival of Sustainability on Wednesday 28th October, welcoming architects, designers and specifiers to the Barbican Centre for a night of talks.

With speakers from World Land Trust, Greenspec, Make Architects and The Office Group, the Festival of Sustainability delivered a night of inspirational talks that looked at how the specification market can take steps in contributing to reducing global warming.

Hosted by Parkside and Strata Tiles at London’s Barbican Centre, the successful evening was attended by architects, designers and specifiers keen to learn more about the world of sustainability. Covering topics such as better city infrastructure and design methodologies to create more sustainable interiors that support wellbeing, the diverse programme saw the tile specification companies tackle some of the biggest issues facing the industry.

Dan Little, managing director, Parkside and Strata Tiles, says; “With our Sustainability Pledge and a commitment to become a net carbon neutral business in 2022, as well as the ambition to lead conversation in the tile specification market, we’re conscious of the need to engage in meaningful dialogue that helps the communities we work to make more sustainable choices. The Festival of Sustainability began this journey and we’re looking forward to continuing the discussion at the next event in February.”

With over 300 registrations, the over-subscribed event saw attendees from across the architecture, design and specification communities come to the Barbican Centre for the evening. The night’s programme also gave insight into the ‘40 for 40’ partnership with the World Land Trust, as well as Criaterra, a biodegradable wall tile made entirely from natural materials.

Due to the success of the event, Parkside and Strata Tiles are holding another Festival of Sustainability in the Grade II Listed Saint James Church, Clerkenwell. The event will take place 24th February 2022. Details of the programme will be announced nearer the time.
