Durkan signs Hatfield housing deal to deliver 87 new homes

Durkan, a leading London and Home Counties homebuilder, will deliver 87 new homes in Hatfield following the exchange of contracts with Hertfordshire County Council and Danes Educational Trust – with agreement facilitating multiple new facilities for Onslow St Audrey’s School in Hatfield.

Located on the land disposal site at Onslow St Audrey’s School, Durkan will deliver a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom homes. The development will include 17 affordable housing homes – 14 affordable rented and 3 shared ownership.

Danes Educational Trust and Hertfordshire County Council, will use the land receipt generated as part of the new development to build new school buildings and improve the school’s existing facilities.

This announcement is the latest in a series of Durkan housebuilding projects, as the company ramps up its activity in the sector and expands its operations into new areas. Its flagship housebuilding project, The Stiles in Bengeo, Hertford is now completely sold out.

Bill Beyzade, managing director of Durkan Homes, said:

“We’re very proud to be working with Danes Educational Trust on this project because it will make a significant difference to the learning experience of thousands of local children.

“As with all of our projects, the development will be carefully designed to complement the existing area and we’ll be collaborating with local stakeholders and Hatfield residents to ensure we deliver a project the community is proud of and deliver much needed homes in the local area.”

Josephine Valentine, CEO of Danes Educational Trust, said:

“Funds from the sale will be re-invested into delivering new and improved buildings and facilities at Onslow St Audrey’s. We are excited about this once in a lifetime investment into our school that will ensure an excellent and adaptable learning environment is delivered to offer the very best educational opportunities to the Onslow St Audrey’s School community now and for the future.”

Construction is expected to start in Summer 2022.
