Formica Group launches 2021 student design competition

European design students invited to enter the new Formica® Formations Design Competition – Call for entries

This year Formica Group, manufacturer of interior surfacing solutions and the original inventor of Formica® laminate, has launched a new and exciting pan-European student design competition. They’re calling for budding art and design students to enter and submit their concepts.

Formica Group has challenged design students across Europe (including; UK, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, Finland, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, France, Italy, Russia and Spain) to change the face of the commercial world with adaptable design incorporating Formica® laminate. Designing adaptable spaces is an exercise that considers the present and the future; it considers what’s going on in the world and how it affects the people using the space.

Participants must first choose their setting. The design should be for a commercial space which could include a hotel, bar, restaurant, shop, office, hospital or schools. Entrants will be challenged to look at the different elements of application of Formica® laminate for interior use, while specifying versatile decorative surfacing solutions offered by their collections.

This year, the international jury panel will consist of the three judges. Sandro Marini, Art and Communication Director at Musa will join Formica Group design experts Renee Hytry Derrington and Nina Bailey, all with stellar reputations on the international art and design scene.

Entrants are asked to submit their designs on the competition website, www.formica.com (search for Formations), or via email to formations(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)formica.com before 30th July 2021 and universities wishing to register can get in contact with Formica Group via email.

The overall winner will received an iPad Pro and there will also be shopping vouchers for the top three entries.
