Housebuilder Honey has submitted plans and exchanged contracts on a 14.5-acre site in Coalville to deliver a £54.7m, 190-home development.
Called Ember and located off Beveridge Lane, if planning is granted the development will be the housebuilder ‘s first in Leicestershire.
The proposed development will comprise a mix of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes and feature 14 of Honey’s house types.
Sheffield-headquartered Honey says its homes have all been specifically designed to combine “style, substance and sustainability” for the benefit of buyers.
Ember will form part of property developer Harworth Group’s wider Swinfen Vale masterplan, which will see the delivery of 2,016 homes across a 440-acre site in Coalville.
If approved by North West Leicestershire District Council, work at Ember is expected to start early next year and the first residents are anticipated to move into their new homes by the late summer 2027.
Since its launch in October 2022, Honey has secured 31 immediate sites throughout the Midlands and Yorkshire that will deliver 4,677 homes with a combined gross development value of £1.4bn.
The housebuilder is backed by private equity firm Alchemy Partners and its Alchemy Special Opportunities Fund IV, which has £937m of fully committed capital.
Honey chief executive officer, Mark Mitchell, commented:
“We hope Ember will be our first development in Leicestershire as we continue to expand throughout the East Midlands.
“We have experienced strong demand for our homes at our five live developments in the region and are excited by the opportunity to start delivering our high specification homes for sale in Coalville.
“We believe our product offers buyers the best combination of style, substance and sustainability at its price point and this achievement is the result of our absolute focus on meeting our customers’ needs.
“We now look forward to working with North West Leicestershire District Council planning officers as they consider our proposals in Coalville.”
In the East Midlands, Honey’s five live developments range from Pearl in Duckmanton, near Chesterfield, to Homes by Honey at Thoresby Vale in Edwinstowe, near Nottingham.
The housebuilder has analysed consumer insights and trends to inform its house type designs to ensure they meet the needs and wants of today’s new home buyers, including the flexible use of all living spaces.
Standard features in every Honey home include bi-fold doors; individually designed fully integrated kitchens; and boutique-style bathrooms with a signature free-standing bath and full-height tiling.
