Eight members of the Meadfleet team have raised £2,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support after completing a 13-mile charity walk between two developments managed by the company.
The team, from open space management company Meadfleet, walked cross-country from Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire to Oakham in Rutland, surpassing their original fundraising target of £1,500.
Thanks to the generosity of colleagues, customers, friends, family and supporters, the team raised an incredible total.
Inspired by a colleague who has recently come through their own cancer journey, the challenge held special meaning for everyone involved.
Macmillan Cancer Support provides vital support to people living with cancer and their families, helping people through diagnosis, treatment and beyond.
The 13-mile walk had been postponed due to weather before the team were finally able to take on the challenge. Despite the distance and some challenging sections of the route, the team completed the walk together, enjoying the countryside between Leicestershire and Rutland along the way.
A spokesperson for Meadfleet said:
“We’re incredibly proud of what the team has achieved. We originally hoped to raise £1,500, so reaching £2,200 is fantastic and is a real testament to the generosity of everyone who supported us.
“The walk was challenging, but it was a brilliant day and a great example of the teamwork and community spirit we have at Meadfleet. Having the personal connection to Macmillan made the challenge even more meaningful, and we’re delighted that our fundraising will help support the charity’s vital work.”
Meadfleet would like to thank everyone who donated, shared the fundraising and encouraged the team throughout the challenge.
