Milton Keynes developers keeps the environment in mind with sustainable properties

Leading housebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes is highlighting the benefits of buying a new build home by outlining sustainable features in their properties across Milton Keynes.

At a time when energy bills are rising dramatically, having a home with sustainable features is important to keep living costs low as well as having a positive impact on the environment.

According to Home Builders Federation, a new build property is 65% more energy efficient and roughly 50% cheaper to run per year than a Victorian house of the same style.

The reason behind new build homes being cheaper and greener is due to features such as double glazed windows and doors, efficient boilers, quality insulation and water saving systems.

With these features, the developers can help homebuyers save on their yearly bills with a possible saving of £1,418 a year.

As well as this, a selection of homes will also feature PV panels which will allow for less energy to be used from the national grid and at some points, even transferred back to the grid by the homeowners.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ properties also feature intelligent designs that cut water use by up to 28% per person per day, helping reduce water bills in the long term.

Alison Raine, sales director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Northampton said:

“We are delighted to be delivering properties with sustainability in mind to homebuyers across Milton Keynes, as we feel it is important to do our bit for the environment.

“As the UK’s largest housebuilder, it is our responsibility to ensure we are helping the environment and our homes across the county will hopefully encourage residents to also get involved and be environmentally friendly.”
