New appointments at the helm of Cavanna Homes will steer the company into its second century of trading

Leading Westcountry homebuilder, Cavanna Homes, has announced new appointments to its two most senior positions as the company marks its 100th anniversary and prepares for its second century of trading from its Torquay headquarters.

Grayham Tucker, whose career in construction spans two decades, has been appointed as group managing director to replace Keith Miller who is now deputy chairman until such a time when Jeremy Cavanna retires, where he will then become Chairman.

A structured handover process over the coming year will complete the Cavanna succession plan after three generations of the business being family-owned and family run.

In January 2022, two non-executive directors – John Lougher and Stephen Trusler – were appointed to the board to represent the interests of the Cavanna family shareholders and to help grow the business in tune with the family ethos.

Grayham Tucker who was previously MD for Burrington Estates and has also held senior positions with Taylor Wimpey and the ROK Group said,

“Marking 100 years in business is testament to the quality and professionalism the company has consistently delivered over generations. I am looking forward to leading the excellent team at Cavanna Homes to deliver exceptional homes and customer service across the South West.

“While there’s no doubt that the housebuilding industry is facing a number of challenges this year, Cavanna Homes has strong foundations from which to build an even stronger business into its next century of trading.”

Jeremy Cavanna said,

“The new senior appointments will complete the transition of Cavanna Homes from being family-owned and run, to family-owned and run by an excellent team of housebuilding professionals.

“Keith Miller has shown himself to be an outstanding group managing director over the past six years and has embraced the Cavanna family ethos which my grandfather, P D Cavanna, established when he arrived in Torquay in 1923.”

Keith Miller added:

“We begin the centenary year in a strong position with an experienced and passionate team in place to steer the company towards its next milestone anniversary and beyond.

“Our priority continues to deliver high quality homes in beautiful west country locations, and, with our staff and contractors, we look forward to a bright and successful future.”
