Suffolk double win golden awards

A long serving site labourer and a sales trainee from Suffolk have both received national recognition at a recent ‘Excellence Always’ awards ceremony held in Birmingham. The awards recognise those employees who exemplify Persimmon’s vision and values – to be Britain’s leading home builder, with quality and customer service at its heart.

Described as a vastly experienced and truly dependable professional, Cliff Downes was named as Persimmon Homes Unsung Hero.

Megan Joel, who by contrast is still in the early stages of her career, also took home gold as the Persimmon Homes Sales Trainee of the Year.

Cliff and Megan both received their awards at an event hosted by Persimmon’s CEO Dean Finch and TV personality Cherry Healey.

After dedicating more than 14 years to Persimmon Homes, the judging panel commended Cliff for his attitude towards his job and most importantly, the customers.

He said:

“It’s a great feeling to be recognised for my day-to-day efforts.

“I have thoroughly loved working for Persimmon over the last 14 years and I am so grateful to the opportunities which they have given me during my time here. It’s an absolute honour to accept this award.”

Persimmon Homes Suffolk sales director Lucy Woodhall described Megan Joel as “a breath of fresh air and a fantastic representative of our in-house sales training programme.”

On receiving the award, Megan said:

“I was really surprised to hear that I was nominated for the award so when my name was announced at the dinner, it was such an overwhelming feeling.

“When offered the role at Persimmon I had a huge decision to make between going to university or building my career in the construction industry. Receiving recognition like this confirms to me that I made the correct decision.”

Ian Hamilton, managing director for Persimmon Homes Suffolk added:

“We are delighted to have received the news that not one, but two valued members of staff from our region have won such prestigious awards.

“Both are very worthy of the recognition and should be extremely proud of themselves, as we are as a company, grateful for all their hard work and dedication.”
