Tilia Homes announces partnership with Devon housing association

Housebuilder Tilia Homes Western has partnered with Cornerstone Housing, the Devon housing association to bring a variety of affordable options to its new development in Exeter.

Brook Manor, off Shillingford Road, in Alphington will provide 182 new homes, with a range of one- to four-bedroom properties, with 30% designated as affordable.

The new homes will include carbon reducing features such as hydrogen-ready gas boilers, solar (PV) panels and charging points for electric vehicles.

A new Housing Commission was formed in the region earlier this year to look at the shortage of appropriate housing, with Devon County Council declaring that the county is facing a serious housing crisis.*

Simon Perks, Regional Managing Director for Tilia Homes Western, said:

“We recognise that Devon has specific housing requirements and so it is important to us that everyone has the opportunity to live in a quality property. This is why we are delighted to have formed a partnership with Cornerstone Housing as we continue to deliver energy-efficient homes in the right places where there is a real housing need.”

“It is part of our national strategy to create thriving new communities and providing affordable housing is an essential pillar in doing just that. By working with other external partners, such as Onward Homes or Sage Homes and their Home Stepper offering, or by providing schemes such as Deposit Unlock or Part Exchange, we believe we are helping to build a housing market that is open to everyone.”

Anne Seaborne, Director of Development for Cornerstone Housing, said:

“This is our first collaboration with Tilia Homes and it represents a significant increase in our build programme.”

Cornerstone has bought 54 one- to three-bedroom homes, 38 of which will be rented with a further 16 available through shared ownership.

Janet Gale, Chairperson of Cornerstone’s Resident Engagement panel, added:

“We welcome this partnership with Tilia Homes. Now, more than ever, more affordable homes are needed for families and single occupants and housing providers like Cornerstone are in high demand.”

As part of its commitment to Brook Manor, Tilia Homes Western has pledged more than £2.6m in investment towards local education and healthcare facilities, as well as road traffic management, including a pedestrian and cyclist bridge.
