Longniddry Village recognised at Scottish Home Awards 2026

Longniddry Village has been recognised as one of Scotland’s leading new residential developments after being named Housing Development of the Year (Large Private Sale) at the Scottish Home Awards 2026.

Delivered by Cruden Homes and Places for People, the East Lothian development was recognised for its high-quality design, strong placemaking credentials and contribution to creating a thriving new community within one of Scotland’s most desirable coastal locations.

Situated in the heart of Longniddry, the development has been carefully designed to complement the existing village, combining a mix of traditionally inspired homes and contemporary interiors with landscaped green spaces, active travel links and easy access to local amenities. Its location offers residents the opportunity to enjoy East Lothian’s coastline while benefiting from direct rail links to Edinburgh city centre.

The award follows continued demand for homes at Longniddry Village, which has attracted a diverse mix of new residents including first-time buyers, growing families and downsizers seeking a well-connected coastal location.

Hazel Davies, Sales and Marketing Director at Cruden Homes, said:

“To see Longniddry Village recognised at the Scottish Home Awards is a fantastic achievement. This success is a true reflection of the aspirational vision of the landowners, Wemyss & March Estates, and the commitment that has gone into creating the development by all involved.

“From the outset, the aim was to create a place that sits naturally within the existing village while delivering high-quality homes and a strong sense of community. The response from buyers has been incredibly positive and we’re proud to see that recognised through this award.

“Longniddry Village demonstrates the value of partnership-led placemaking and what can be achieved when quality, design and long-term community creation are prioritised from the very beginning.”

The Scottish Home Awards celebrate excellence across Scotland’s housebuilding sector, recognising the organisations, developments and individuals setting the benchmark for quality, innovation and customer experience.

The winners were announced at a ceremony held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Glasgow on Thursday 18 June.
