Gleeson Homes is pleased to announce the acquisition of a parcel of land opposite its popular The Woodlands development in Bearpark, less than three miles from Durham city centre. This second phase will deliver an additional 48 much-needed new homes, following the receipt of planning approval.
The new phase of development will act as a natural extension to The Woodlands and further strengthen Gleeson’s presence in the area, responding to continued demand for accessible, high-quality housing in Bearpark.
The scheme will provide a mix of 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes from Gleeson’s space-standard range, featuring contemporary elevations. A selection of bungalows will also be included, alongside a 15% Affordable Housing provision to ensure a broad offering for a range of buyers.
As part of the development, Gleeson will provide over £189,000 in Section 106 contributions, representing a valuable investment in the local area. This includes funding increased SEND provisions across the county, improvements to healthcare services, public open spaces and improvements to the local rights of way network, supporting key infrastructure and enhancing community wellbeing in Bearpark.
The Woodlands has already proven to be a popular development among buyers, and this additional phase is expected to be warmly welcomed, helping to meet ongoing demand for new homes in the local area.
Gleeson expects to commence work on site in the coming months and will utilise the existing site setup and show homes to support an efficient transition into the new phase.
