Retirement Villages Group commence redevelopment of Avonpark Village

Retirement Villages Group (RVG) has started work on the next phase of Avonpark Village in Wiltshire.

The circa £40m redevelopment delivered by contractor Elliott Group will deliver much-needed new later living homes and amenities, futureproofing the village and further investing in quality of life for those who already live there.

The existing community at Avonpark Village gathered with local schoolchildren, elected representatives including MP Brian Mathew, and neighbours to mark the start of a new chapter – not just with a ceremonial spade in the ground, but with a time capsule buried beneath it.

The next phase of development will deliver 69 beautifully designed new retirement apartments, replacing empty and outdated buildings with homes and purpose-built spaces. New communal amenities will include a restaurant, bar, shop, library and dedicated wellness spaces, all designed around independence, connection and the reassurance of support when it’s needed.

Construction will be carefully phased to minimise disruption to existing residents, with detailed planning in place to limit impact on the surrounding area as works progress. The development is expected to be completed in Autumn 2027.

Avonpark Village, set in the charming Limpley Stoke Valley currently has 92 homes and is already a thriving integrated retirement community. Walking groups, social events, and the warmth of genuine neighbourliness are everyday features of life here. This next phase is designed to enrich that further, adding new homes and amenities that will attract future residents while continuing to raise the bar for those who already call Avonpark Village home.

RVG is focused on long-term investment in quality of life: in the freedom to live independently, in the confidence that comes from belonging to a connected and supportive community and the peace of mind for tomorrow.

Tim Seddon, Chief Executive Officer at Retirement Villages Group, said:

“This is not just a construction project, it is an investment in the future of daily life here. We are proud to be building something that will serve this community for generations, and we are grateful to our residents for their patience and the spirit with which they have embraced it.”

Noel Elliott, CEO at Elliott Group, comments:

”We are delighted to have been entrusted with delivering this important phase of works at Avonpark Village. Projects of this nature, in a live residential environment, require a thoughtful and collaborative approach, and we are committed to ensuring that construction is carried out with the utmost care and minimal disruption to residents. It’s great to see such a well-established community being enhanced with new homes and facilities that will make a real difference to daily life. We look forward to working closely with Retirement Villages Group and all stakeholders to bring this vision to life.”
